Rise early on day 3 of your Sri Lankan trip to cover ground. Habarana’s central location makes both Sigiriya as well as the Minneriya National Park easily accessible. Knuckles is a renowned rainforest jungle and another UNESCO heritage site in the region. Wake up early to explore Kandy’s most famous landmark; the sacred ‘Temple of the Tooth,’ believed to hold a tooth relic of Lord Buddha. For visitors travelling in the period of July-August, the ‘Asala Perahara’ (pageant) is a sight to see (at night) with various cultural dances and decorated elephants parading through Kandy’s streets. Other attractions in Kandy include a museum, lake, large shopping mall, plenty of boutique outlets and an abundance of delicious local kitchens. Heading into the afternoon, visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens and take a leisurely stroll through its colourful walkways. This garden is particularly known for its Orchid House and large population of fruit bats.

Nuwara Eliya is a completely different eco-system to that of most other regions in Sri Lanka.
